The Fit Chic Lifestyle For Busy Women

Hi, my name is Lynne and I just joined this forum. I'm struggling to re-discover the motivation I once had, and hoped maybe some of you might have some ideas. My basic history is this:

About 4 years ago, I had a neck injury and some other health issues that caused me to gain some weight-about 30 lbs. After a spinal fusion, I found myself sitting around thinking my life was over-I was getting older, my health was poor, and I was overweight. At some point, I realized that I didn't HAVE to live this way, and I could be healthy again. So I started working out. My first workouts involved a 2 lb. *toning* bar and a 20 minute Pilates workout-that kicked my rear! I stuck to it, and lost all the weight, and then some. My lowest weight was 118 and 12% BF. I was so thrilled with how I looked and felt! Then, the holidays hit. Things got put off, I was busy, working a lot, blah blah blah. Come spring of this last year, I decided to get it together again and started working out and eating a cleaner diet again. But the drive just wasn't there. Still, I was doing a lot more again. Working in the yard and so forth. But the yard work got me-I separated my shoulder trying to dig up some wild roses that apparently have been in my yard since the beginning of time It never has healed right, although it is mostly ok. But I am back at square one lifting-wise, and really feeling a bit under-motivated. I want to feel strong again, but when it comes time to actually DO it-it's like pulling teeth.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to find that drive and motivation again, please DO share! I listen to podcasts and motivating music when i work out, I participate in forums, but I just can't find that need again.

Oh, I also got ISSA certified while I was doing so well, but how can I motivate others to succeed if I can't even motivate myself??

Thanks for reading my ramblings,
Lynne A

I'm not getting it done right now either. It's helping me to have found the fit chic group. It motivates me if whatever I'm doing is showing results within a few days. If no results, I get discouraged. In the spring last year I was walking six miles/day in one hour. I lost zero pounds. That was discouraging.

Recently I was in a frame fortifying class and I did start to feel and see a result after a few weeks and then the class ended. I'm glad to find the fitchic videos to show me what to do at home since it's the same stuff.

I think we are going to have to do the actions even in spite of it feeling like pulling teeth until it stops feeling like that no matter how long that takes. Maybe it will be a struggle emotionally for a few months. We have to keep doing it in spite of that emotional struggle it is.

My next obstacle if I get through that one is: "I have to do this every day of my entire life?" that is a discouraging thought to me even after I start feeling good and looking good. I don't know how to overcome that moment in the process.

does anyone have an answer to that?

Well, I pulled some teeth last night! Shame is, once I make myself do it, I really feel good. But it used to be so exciting to even think about getting down there and busting butt. I really do hope I can find that again. I miss that enthusiasm.
As far as doing this the rest of your life, it's really simplistic, but have you tried thinking of it as something you GET to do for the rest of your life rather than something you HAVE to do? For me, the thought of a lifetime of doing this isn't discouraging, it's just getting me off my rear THIS ONE TIME. Except it's a battle every single time. Anyway, maybe if you tell yourself that enough times, you'll start to really feel that way?

Great stuff Jackie! One of the things I've found kind of helps is reading someone else's story of triumph and think that I am no different than them...so if they can do it, so can I.
Finding your Powerful reason why(PRW) is a major key...the how part of it is "easy". find your "why" and let it be your passion. Believe you can do it and you will...if you don't believe at first...pretend like you do and pretty soon you will believe. Your passion comes from Belief.
